Tears flow at burial of Nkawkaw school bus accident victims [Watch]

At the burial of the five children who perished in the school bus tragedy at Nankyeau, the town of Nkawkaw in the Eastern region has descended into a state of mourning and anguish.

Kwasi Nyarko, 12, Jerome Narmenu, 7, Acher Binney, 4, Asare Joseph, 9, and Gafktsi Marcus, 3, were among the deceased.

In Nkawkaw, families and locals were unable to contain their tears during the combined burial ritual on Friday, February 23.

When officials from the deceased schools called a roll call to remove their names from the school records, the scene become extremely tense during the funeral.

This occurred while the bereaved families stood in front of the caskets of their loved ones and sobbed.

Owusu Dwamena of Adom News, who was there at the burial home, claims that a government delegation was present to assist the mourning relatives.

The Hyundai minibus with registration GE 2291-10 is reported to have been struck by a Nissan Patrol car that is purportedly the official vehicle of Prince Karikari, the District Chief Executive for Atwima Kwanwoma in the Ashanti region.

An eyewitness report states that the bus driver attempted an illegal U-turn while traveling on the road’s shoulders from the Accra to Kumasi direction at a location close to Nanchia. Overall, five students were killed.
