Kenyan police have made a significant breakthrough in the case of a “serial killer” responsible for the gruesome murder of nine women whose bodies were found in a disused quarry in Nairobi. The suspect, Collins Jomaisi Khalusha, was apprehended at a bar while watching the Euro final. He has confessed to killing 42 women since 2022, including his own wife.

The shocking discovery at the Mukuru quarry has left many Kenyans outraged, with questions raised about how such heinous crimes could go unnoticed for so long. The suspect led police to his house, where they recovered incriminating evidence, including phones, a laptop, identity cards, personal female clothing, and a machete believed to be used in dismembering the victims.

The victims, aged between 18 and 30, were all killed in a similar manner, according to the police. While nine bodies have been officially identified, local residents claim the actual number is higher. Police are conducting post-mortem examinations and urging families to come forward if they suspect their loved ones may have fallen victim to these murders.

The arrest of a second individual with a victim’s phone raises concerns about possible accomplices in the killings. The Independent Police Oversight Authority is also investigating the proximity of the crime scene to a police station and allegations of police involvement in the murders.

The recent events have placed a spotlight on Kenya’s police force, already under scrutiny for their handling of protests and previous unresolved cases of brutality. Calls for swift justice and accountability are echoing across the country as authorities work to bring the perpetrator to justice and provide closure to the grieving families.
