How Saweetie reacted to her first Grammy nomination (PHOTOS)

“I’m speechless I wish I had the words to express how I feel,” says Saweetie as the Recording Academy recognise her for the first time in her career.

On Tuesday, November 24, the 28-year-old American rapper’s name popped up twice in the nomination list for the 64th edition of the Grammy.

Saweetie, known in real life as Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper, received two nominations; “Best Rap Song” and “Best New Artist”. Her 2021 hit song “Best Friend” guaranteed her the nod.

Reacting to the news, Saweetie couldn’t find enough words to express her excitement, saying she is grateful for getting recognised by the prestigious award scheme.

“I’m speechless I wish I had the words to express how I feel,” she tweeted, “but I’m just so grateful!!! Being acknowledged for all the hard work me & my team have been doing feels AMAZINNNNNG. thank you #TeamIcy for stickin with me through thick and thin y’all some real ride or dies IKDR!!”

In a separate Instagram post, she shared two hot photos of herself and showed how proud she is by captioning it: “2X GRAMMY NOMINATED IKDR.”

Her fans and celebrity friends were excited about her nomination as well.

Musician Lil Nas X said he is proud of her: “extremely proud of you!”

A fan tweeted: “You deserve it babe! You put in the hard work and take care of your fans! I feel loved and love you even more for it… your welcome to! Best friend till the end like Chucky… keep doing what you do! Your and inspiration and love of my life!  I got you boo.”

Another added: “i’m SO proud of you…you know i will stick by your side no matter what. the music you have released this year was immaculate and you are always evolving and trying to improve in your art. i love you so much. go celebrate this big win, you deserve it so much!! 😀 <33”
