Ryan Reynolds top movies, TV shows and awards

As the star of National Lampoon’s final watchable film, Van Wilder, 46-year-old Ryan Reynolds who was born in  Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, made a little mark early in his career.

He also had enough comic punch, even in 2004, to make a brief appearance in “Harold & Kumar” as a doubting nurse.

But until he became well-known in 2009, he had to do just that for a man who had made the gross-out comedy “Waiting.” Reynolds made “Smokin’ Aces and Blade: Trinity” before appearing in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” as the Merc With A No Mouth and the Sandra Bullock romantic comedy “The Proposal” in 2009.

Even while everyone despises “X-Men Origins”, no one holds Reynolds responsible for it because “The Proposal” made a lot of money.

And that’s part of what makes him so endearing: He never makes you dislike him even if the movie he’s in is awful. It explains how his reputation was able to endure flops like “Green Lantern” and “R.I.P.D.”, even as Certified Fresh films like “Buried”, “The Voices”, and “Mississippi Grind” served as a gentle reminder to the public that this actor had the talent to become one of the biggest stars in the world, if only he could find the right role.

Ryan Reynolds’ top movies and TV shows

That would be Deadpool, the vulgar, R-rated comic book film that broke the fourth wall by mocking subjects like the ridiculous bombast of superhero movies and Reynolds’ own Hollywood career.

Highlights in Reynolds’ oeuvre since making up for his prior comic book movie offenses include “The Hitman’s Bodyguard”, “Life”, and, of course, “Once Upon a Deadpool.”

Recently, he has had “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard”, “Red Notice”, and “The Adam Project” on Netflix. Hugh Jackman will return to Marvel with the third Deadpool, which he persuaded to happen.

Ryan Reynolds’ awards and nominations

Reynolds has won numerous awards and recognition for his work. He was nominated for a Young Artist Award in 1993 as a result of his participation in the Canadian drama series “Hillside.”

He won the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Actor in a Comedy and garnered a Golden Globe nod in the same category for his portrayal of “Deadpool” in the 2016 Marvel movie of the same name. He received a Grammy nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media for the sequel’s soundtrack in 2018. Among his many accomplishments are a Saturn Award, three MTV Movie & TV Awards, and three People’s Choice Awards.

In addition to receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2017, Reynolds was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2010.

When people ask what I do for fun, I tell 'em, “I write.”
