Randall Herman Meisner was best known as an American musician, singer, songwriter, and founding member of the Eagles. Throughout his professional musical career, Meisner’s main role was that of bassist and backing high-harmony vocalist as a group member and session musician.

As a child, he fell in love with music and began taking lessons and playing in local bands. While attending Scottsbluff High School, one of Randy’s teachers suggested he take up the bass. “I loved R&B and the bass players on the Motown stuff were great. They inspired me. I can’t read music. Once I learn a part it’s there. My bass playing came real naturally.”

Meisner died as a result of complications associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Los Angeles, on July 26, 2023, at the age of 77.

COPD according to search means an umbrella term for a group of diseases including chronic bronchitis and emphysema that can block airflow and cause breathing-related problems, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
