Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, born October 21, 1956, is a Nigerian politician and former Governor of Kano State from 1999 to 2003 and 2011 to 2015.

 

In the hamlet of Kwankwaso, close to Madobi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was born to a Sunni Muslim Fulani family.

He previously attended Kwankwaso Primary School, Gwarzo Boarding Senior Primary School, Wudil Craft School, and Kano Technical College before enrolling at Kaduna Polytechnic.

Rabiu Kwankwaso was a prominent student leader and an elected member of the Kano State Students Association during his time in school.

His father served as the village chief of Kwankwaso with the title Sarkin Fulani, Dagacin Kwankwaso, before being elevated to the position of district chief of Madobi by the Kano Emirate with the title Majidadin Kano, Hakimin Madobi. His mother’s identity is yet to be revealed.
