Kingsley Amoakwa-Boadu, a private legal practitioner and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, has made some interesting observations about the recent power crisis in Ghana.
Contrary to popular belief, Boadu stated that President Nana Akufo-Addo did not explicitly claim that the era of erratic power supply, known as Dumsor, is over.
During a recent discussion on The Key Points, Boadu emphasized that the President expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for their patience during the ongoing power challenges. He clarified that the government acknowledges the existence of power supply challenges and is working to address them.
Boadu further explained that occasional power outages can occur even when there is no full-blown Dumsor situation. He highlighted that the President’s assurance that Dumsor will not return is based on the completion of maintenance work on faulty transformers owned by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
President Akufo-Addo assured workers during the May Day celebrations that the government has resolved issues related to transformer maintenance, leading to stable power supply without load shedding reported recently. The President’s confidence in preventing a return to Dumsor was echoed by Boadu, who emphasized that the government has implemented measures to prevent a recurrence of the power crisis.
