Peter Aykroyd cause of death: What happened to Peter Aykroyd?

He was the younger brother of comedian Dan Aykroyd and was born in Ottawa to Lorraine (1918-2018) and Peter Hugh (1922-2020) Aykroyd. He was a member of the Toronto comedic group Second City with his older brother.

They appeared on Saturday Night Live as well. During the fifth season of the program, which ran from 1979 to 1980, he both wrote and appeared on-screen.

In the early 1990s, he co-authored the screenplay for the film Nothing But Trouble with Dan Aykroyd; Dan wrote the story. Together with Christopher Chacon and Peter Ventrella, Peter Aykroyd co-created the 88-episode Canadian science fiction program Psi Factor in 1996. His brother Dan served as the program’s host.

To play the parts made famous by their respective brothers Dan and John, Peter Aykroyd and Jim Belushi, respectively, provided the voices of Elwood Blues and Jake Blues for the animated series The Blues Brothers in 1997. Peter Aykroyd starred in movies including Coneheads, Dragnet, Nothing But Trouble, and Spies Like Us.

On November 6, 2021, two weeks before his 66th birthday, Aykroyd passed away in Spokane, Washington, from sepsis brought on by an undiagnosed abdominal hernia. He was 65 years old. Two weeks later, a title card on Saturday Night Live initially revealed his passing.
