Born on December 25, 1940, Peter Ronald Brown is an English performance poet, songwriter, and singer best known for his work with Cream and Jack Bruce.

Brown was performing as a poet before Cream asked him to contribute to songwriting. Following the trio’s triumph on the charts, Brown decided to pursue a career in music. Brown was asked to contribute to some songs for the Graham Bond Organization after being approached by Graham Bond, and he was then asked to join the group on stage.

After they broke up, Brown joined the Battered Ornaments in an effort to work with musicians whose skills weren’t so much beyond his own. The band joined forces with Harvest, EMI’s progressive division, which was also home to musicians like Roy Harper, Deep Purple, and Syd Barrett. The Battered Ornaments’ lone album with Brown, A Meal You Can Shake Hands featuring in the Dark, was released.
