Peter Ronald Brown, an English performance poet, songwriter, and performer, was born on December 25, 1940. He is best known for his work with Cream and Jack Bruce. Brown was born in Surrey, England’s Ashtead. He was a poet before he became a musician, and the American magazine Evergreen Review published his first poem when he was just 14 years old.

Brown was a member of the bands Pete Brown & His Battered Ornaments and Pete Brown & Piblokto!, and he collaborated with Graham Bond and Phil Ryan. Brown developed a business that makes movies and also creates screenplays.

In the 1960s, Brown joined the Liverpool poetry scene. In Newcastle’s Morden Tower, he delivered the opening poetry reading in 1964. He started out as an outspoken advocate for British Beat poetry and later wrote poems with Michael Horovitz that they both read publicly at a Royal Albert Hall event in 1965.

The First Real Poetry Band introduced Brown to the band Cream. Although the band initially considered him to be Ginger Baker’s writing partner, they soon discovered that he got along better with bassist Jack Bruce.

A Meal You Can Shake Hands With in the Dark and Mantlepiece, two albums by Pete Brown and His Battered Ornaments, were released in 1969. Pete Bailey, Charlie Hart, Dick Heckstall-Smith, George Kahn, Roger Potter, Chris Spedding, and Rob Tait were all members of the band.
