The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has published a statement notifying the public of an increase in fees and taxes for all of its services.
The modification is scheduled to take effect on Monday, April 1, 2024.
The notification states that the modification is in compliance with the Fees and Charges Regulations 2003 (L.I 2481).
The online passport application portal reports that the regular service charge for a 32-page booklet has risen from GH¢100 to GH¢500, while the 48-page booklet now costs ¢644.
Expedited service costs ¢700 for a 32-page booklet and ¢800 for a 48-page booklet.
Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, suggested to Parliament’s Subsidiary Legislation Committee in December 2023 that fees be adjusted to reduce losses in passport booklet printing.
Botchwey noted that the state’s current economic realities made funding passports untenable.
