OJ Simpson died owing $100m to murder victims Ron Goldman & Nicole Brown’s families

OJ Simpson, a once beloved NFL star, passed away at the age of 76 after a short battle with prostate cancer.

His death has reignited the controversy surrounding the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.

Although Simpson was cleared of murder in a highly publicized trial, a civil trial jury found him liable for the deaths and ordered him to pay $33.5 million to the families of the victims.

Despite being spared jail time for the murders, Simpson’s debt to the families has reportedly grown to over $100 million with accrued interest.

The Goldman family has been pursuing the money for years, only receiving a fraction of the owed amount. An attorney for the Goldman family vowed to continue to pursue Simpson’s estate to ensure justice for their loved one who was brutally murdered.

Simpson, who retreated to a luxury home in Las Vegas following his release from prison in 2017, was able to avoid paying the damages by keeping his money in pensions and other accounts. There were allegations that he transferred money to his children to evade payment, which they denied.

Fred Goldman, Ron Goldman’s father, expressed that Simpson’s death was “no great loss to the world”, as it only served as a reminder of his son’s tragic death.

Despite being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, Simpson was surrounded by his children and grandchildren at the time of his passing.

Throughout his tumultuous life, Simpson’s football career and subsequent downfall have been well-documented.

He spent 11 seasons in the NFL, primarily with the Buffalo Bills, before retiring in 1979.

Despite his athletic success, Simpson’s legacy is tainted by the shadow of the murders and the ongoing legal battles with the families of the victims.
