Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang, the former Director General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), has bid farewell to his colleagues after being relieved of his duties by President Akufo-Addo. Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang highlighted the numerous achievements made during his tenure, which began in 2017.
During his time as Director-General, Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang focused on enhancing customer service and stakeholder satisfaction at SSNIT. He implemented various programs to improve service delivery, including the creation of a Pensioners’ Priority Desk and a direct WhatsApp line for the Director General. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of a revamped web portal and social media presence, which saw a significant increase in followers over the years.
One of the key accomplishments Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang mentioned was the introduction of SSNITPAY, a comprehensive payment platform offering various payment options such as mobile money wallets, partner bank deposits, direct debit cards, and online payments. He also highlighted the successful merger of SSNIT and Ghana Card numbers, which has streamlined identification for over two million members, including inactive contributors, pensioners, and beneficiaries.
Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang expressed his gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for the opportunity to serve the government and his country. He credited the success of his tenure to the dedication and hard work of the SSNIT staff, acknowledging their resilience and support throughout his time as Director-General.
