The Anyaa-Sowutuom member of parliament, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, has connected his recent loss in the NPP Parliamentary Primary to his vigorous backing of the ‘Ken must go’ campaign.
Calling for the ouster of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta in light of the country’s economic woes, Dr. Adomako was defeated by Mr. Emmanuel Tobbin in the primary by a vote total of 818 to 566.
In a Tuesday, February 6, 2024, interview with Citi FM, Dr. Adomako speculated that his support of the “Ken must go” movement might have contributed to his defeat.
He acknowledged that there were a number of contributing factors, but he highlighted that his dissident position might have contributed to his loss.
“I believe that numerous factors were involved. The first that springs to mind is having a dissident viewpoint. By that, I mean that I had a dissenting opinion in a few cases, and I believe that this may have played a role,” he stated.
For example, I was among the few who stood up at first because Ken had to go. Although I wouldn’t say it was the main cause, I believe it might have helped.
Dr. Adomako also acknowledged that he might not have been successful in securing the candidacy to represent Anyaa-Sowutuom’s constituents in the upcoming elections in December as a result of his endorsement of the Alan Kyeremanten movement.
