‘Maakye‘, the morning show on Onua TV, recently held a special commemorative lecture in honor of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, marking the 52nd anniversary of his passing.

Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who was born on September 21, 1909, passed away on April 27, 1972. He played a crucial role in the liberation of Ghana and served as the country’s Prime Minister from 1952 to 1957 before becoming its first President.

The lecture, which took place on April 26th, was dedicated to the memory of Osagyefo Nkrumah, as the following day was a Saturday when the morning show would not be aired. The keynote speaker for the event was Yaw Anokye Frimpong, a legal practitioner and historian, who delved into the life of Nkrumah from his early years to his contribution to the independence of Ghana.

The lecture, titled “Unravelling the Mysteries around the Death of Osagyefo,” shed light on Nkrumah’s upbringing, education abroad, and his return to Ghana to lead the country to independence. The event took place at the Executive Theatre of Media General and was open to the public for contributions and questions about Nkrumah.

Notable personalities in attendance included the chief of Nkrumah’s hometown, Nkroful, Kwesi Kotuah V, and Dr. Michael Abu Sakara Foster, a former flag bearer for the Convention People’s Party (CPP), which Nkrumah founded. Students from various schools also participated in the event.

The lecture provided an opportunity for attendees to reflect on the legacy of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his lasting impact on Ghanaian history and independence.

The images from the event showcased a sense of reverence and appreciation for Ghana’s first President, whose vision and leadership continue to inspire generations of Ghanaians.
