Netizens have aimed at Ghanaian artist Sister Derby for her tenacious defense of the girl engaged in the contentious incident involving Nigerian musician Omah Lay and a female fan at his show.
The story started when a young woman named Jess went on stage with Omah Lay to perform sensual dances, which infuriated some of the audience members and users of social media.
Sister Derby rushed to social media to voice her disapproval of Jess’s later apology to concertgoers and her partner, Omah Lay.
Sister Derby defended Jess’s actions in a tweet, saying they were only meant as fun.
E pain me waaa say the Omah Lay concert girl come out to explain. Kai.

She made a comparison between the circumstances and Caribbean and Jamaican cultural customs, wherein dance acts of a similar nature are embraced rather than derided.
After Sister Derby posted a tweet, social media users erupted in controversy, criticizing her position and charging her with being a bad role model for children.
Boys in their feelings too much. Do you know how they dance in the Caribbean? Hoh

While some contended that Jess should apologize for her inappropriate behavior, others upheld her freedom of speech.
In the meantime, Jess’ boyfriend has announced that he has broken up with her in response to what he called disrespect.
