The Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has revealed his plans to enhance educational infrastructure through partnerships with the private sector and an improved credit system.
Speaking during a meeting with the National Executive of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), Dr Bawumia expressed his commitment to supporting teaching and non-teaching staff to enhance the quality of education and improve educational outcomes.
The engagement, which took place in Accra on Monday, April 22, saw Dr Bawumia acknowledging the valuable contributions made by CHASS in improving the free Senior High School Policy and other aspects of education.
In a Facebook post following the meeting, Dr Bawumia outlined his vision of leveraging private sector involvement and a revamped credit system to expand educational infrastructure and raise the standard of education in the country.
He emphasized the importance of encouraging the private sector to build infrastructure that the government can rent and eventually own, as well as leasing buses for schools. This new approach to financing aims to reduce government expenditure and speed up the completion of infrastructure projects in senior high schools.
Dr Bawumia expressed his excitement about the potential of these policies to address the educational infrastructure deficit, improve maintenance, and enhance the overall quality of education.
He thanked the leadership of CHASS for the productive discussions and expressed confidence in the feasibility of these proposals.
