The recent poll conducted by Global Info Analytics has sparked a debate in the political arena, with former President John Mahama leading with over 54% of the votes, followed by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia with 34%.
The poll, which included 82 constituencies and was conducted between 22nd and 31st March, 2024, also showed Alan Kyerematen with a little over 7% of the votes and Nana Kwame Bediako of the New Force Movement with over 2%.
While some have accepted the results of the poll, others, especially from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have raised concerns about the methodology used in gathering the data. The Director of Communications for the NPP, Richard Ahiagbah, emphasized the importance of the questions asked in the survey, stating that the interpretation of the questions could affect the respondents’ answers and, consequently, the outcome of the poll.
Ahiagbah urged caution in interpreting the results of the poll, highlighting the need for a comprehensive understanding of the survey instrument and the context in which the questions were asked. Despite the differing opinions on the reliability of the poll, it is clear that it has sparked a lively discussion among political stakeholders in Ghana.
