Ghanaian Artiste Manager, Nana Poku Ashis, recently shared his thoughts on the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) nominee list, specifically the inclusion of rapper Amerado‘s song “Kwaku Ananse.”
Ashis commended Amerado for standing up against injustices and highlighted the importance of Ghanaian creatives advocating for themselves.
During a live discussion on Hitz FM, Ashis criticized the timid nature of many Ghanaian musicians, noting that they often fail to address issues affecting them. He encouraged artists to be more proactive and vocal in fighting for their rights.
This discussion came after Amerado successfully petitioned to have his song recognized in multiple categories at the TGMA.
Ashis’s remarks shed light on the challenges that Ghanaian musicians face and the need for them to assert themselves in the industry.
