The Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board has made some significant changes to the list of nominees for the upcoming awards ceremony. One of the most notable changes is the reinstatement of Amerado’s hit song “Kwaku Ananse” in the category for Most Popular Song of the Year.

After a thorough review period for reporting errors and omissions in the nomination process, the TGMA board made the decision to recognize the original version of “Kwaku Ananse” as a contender in both the Best Highlife Song and Most Popular Song of the Year categories. The board admitted that there was an oversight in initially categorizing the song as a remix.

In addition to the reinstatement of “Kwaku Ananse,” there was also a correction made to the song “Lonely Road” by O’Kenneth & Xlim Kid. Originally submitted as a featured work, it is now acknowledged as a collaborative effort by both artists.

Robert Klah, speaking on behalf of the 25th TGMA Board, expressed gratitude to the music community for their involvement in the nomination review process. He highlighted the board’s dedication to ensuring fairness and transparency, giving credit to stakeholders who have contributed over the past 25 years.

This decision comes after Amerado publicly raised concerns about the exclusion of the original version of “Kwaku Ananse” from the nominations. While remixes of the song featuring Fameye and another track titled “The Hardest” were recognized, the board initially overlooked the original version of “Kwaku Ananse.”

With these changes to the nominations, the TGMA board is working towards ensuring a fair and inclusive process for all artists involved in the music industry in Ghana. The upcoming awards ceremony promises to be an exciting and competitive event, celebrating the best of Ghanaian music talent.
