Mills Bee Lane was a professional boxer and American boxing referee, as well as a two-term Washoe County, Nevada, District Court Judge and television personality.

Lane was best known for officiating several major heavyweight boxing matches in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, as well as starring in the syndicated court show Judge Mills Lane.

Mills Lane was diagnosed with a stroke.

 

Lane then attended the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah, graduating with the class of 1970 and becoming a member of the Nevada bar. Lane was appointed Chief Deputy Sheriff of Investigative Services at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office in 1979. In 1982, Lane was elected District Attorney, and in 1990, Lane was elected District Judge.

Lane began boxing while serving in the Marine Corps, eventually becoming the All-Far East welterweight champion. In 1960, Lane won the National Collegiate Athletic Association welterweight boxing championship.
