Some enraged young people at Awutu Prison Junction clashed with military and police officers over 11 acres of land in Prison Junction, a Kasoa suburb in the Central Region’s Awutu Senya East Municipality.

The soldiers are thought to have arrived from the Jubilee House. According to Citi News sources, a Lands Commission search report revealed that part of the land belongs to a developer, while another portion belongs to one Benlord Ababio, also known in private as Nana Barimah.

Speaking to the media following a heated altercation with the police, Benlord Ababio stated that he purchased the disputed parcel of land in 2008, and that the developer approached him about selling a portion of the land to him, but he declined.

Nana Barimah stated that after a month, the developer, accompanied by some police officers, encroached on the land again, causing him to be arrested.

The altercation erupted again on Tuesday, February 13, when the developer, accompanied by some military and police officers believed to be from the Jubilee house, encroached on the land once more, prompting angry youth in the area to engage the officers in a heated argument over land ownership.

“The developer, accompanied by some military and police officers who were believed to have come from the Jubilee house, encroached on my land again. I know the men he came with; they are all from the Jubilee house, but I want them to know that they cannot harass me with military and police. Previously, I petitioned the Jubilee House to intervene in the case, but the developer did not appear for the discussion.

Meanwhile, Nana Barimah’s brother, Alhaji Mohammed Musuh, expressed concern about the use of men in uniform from the Jubilee House to carry out personal operations, claiming that the trend is tarnishing the image of the seat of government.

“We have a search report that states that the developer owns a portion of the 11-acre property but does not own the entire 11 acres, but he intends to take all of the land from my brother. Their actions do not intimidate us. “All the youth here are aware that we own this land, which is why they approached the military and police,” Alhaji Mohammed Musah, also known as 94, stated.

Police officers from the Central East Regional Police Command were quickly dispatched to restore order following the earlier altercation.
