Gilbert Gottfried, American actor, stand-up comedian, husband and father of two children, has passed away. The news of his passing came on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, aged 67.
“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness,” Gilbert Gottfried’s family confirmed his death via a tweet on Tuesday.
The family described him as “the most iconic voice in comedy” as well as a “wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children.”
“Although today is a sad day for us all, please keep laughing as possible in Gilbert’s honor,” his family added in the statement.
The statement didn’t reveal his cause of death.
Meet Gilbert Gottfried son Max Aaron Gottfried
Max Aaron Gottfried is the second child and the only son of Gilbert Gottfried and wife Dara.
Max was born on Monday, May 18, 2009, in New York. He is now 12 years old.
He was named after Gilbert’s father Max and Dara’s grandmother Mildred.
“Our son was also born on his grandfather Max’s birthday! His middle name is after my grandfather Aaron,” Dara told CCB when the child arrived.
Arlene Gottfried and Karen Gottfried are Max’s aunties.
