The Manhyia Palace recently played host to a grand celebration of Asanteman Queen Mother Day with the successful Feast Ghana event.
The event showcased the rich culinary heritage of Asanteman and was attended by distinguished guests including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehemaa, Nana Kondu Yiadom III, Chief of Staff, Frema Osei Opare, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister-Designate, Egyapa Mercer, Deputy Tourism Minister, Mark Okraku Mantey, and CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Akwasi Agyeman.
The event was a blend of tradition, culture, and gastronomy, featuring a variety of traditional Ghanaian dishes accompanied by traditional drumming and dancing.
Akwasi Agyeman commended the event for capturing the essence of Ghanaian hospitality and cultural richness, promoting culinary tourism and inviting the world to experience the unique flavors of Ghana.
Egyapa Mercer highlighted the importance of celebrating Ghana’s culinary heritage and inviting others to experience the warmth and richness of Ghanaian hospitality.
The Chief of Staff emphasized the need to preserve Ghana’s culinary traditions by creating a recipe book to immortalize these cherished dishes for future generations.
The Asantehene, Osei Tutu II, emphasized the significant role played by Queen mothers in Asante cultural heritage, stating that celebrating them is an integral part of Asanteman culture and identity.
The next stop for the Feast Ghana event is the Accra International Conference Center on May 1, where the GTA has partnered with the PSWU of TUC and the Queen Mothers Foundation to treat workers to authentic Ghanaian food and entertainment.
