Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding the potential inclusion of captain Andre Ayew in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, is set to announce his squad for the crucial games against Mali and the Central African Republic, and the decision on whether to invite Andre Ayew has been a hot topic of discussion.

With Andre Ayew scoring five goals in 12 Ligue 1 starts for Le Havre this season, many believe he deserves a spot in the squad. However, Sannie Daara believes that the final decision lies with the coach.

“It is up to the coaches to decide. If I say you should invite him then people will say it is Sannie who said we should invite Dede,” Sannie Daara stated in an interview with Asempa FM.

He continued, “If the coach would invite him or not, it is his prerogative. His performances during the season are in front of him to assess and make his decision. Even though we are presenting the receipts of his performances to the coaches, it is their decision to invite him or not. But as for his performances, it is there for everyone to see including the coaches.”

As Ghanaians eagerly await Otto Addo’s squad announcement, the debate over Andre Ayew’s inclusion continues to divide opinions. Ultimately, it will be up to the coach to make the final call on whether the captain will be part of the team for the upcoming matches.
