Actor Kyekyeku is stepping up to the plate with a daring new project aimed at not just revitalizing the business but also tackling long-standing ethnic tensions as Ghana’s once-thriving film industry faces the specter of collapse.

The planned Ghallywood movie, 1957, is titled to provide insight into the history, ramifications, and promotion of national harmony of the long-standing conflict between the Asante and Northern tribes.

The Ashanti region has been home to immigrants from the North since the early 1700s.

But as time went on, these communities developed acrimonious rivalries that gave rise to tribalism that still exists today.

Kyekyeku has brought together a diverse ensemble that includes members of both the Ashanti and Northern tribes in an effort to address the problem head-on.

Renowned figures such as Empress Gifty, Dr. Likee, Vanessa Nicole, veteran Kalsoume Sinare, Papa Kumasi, Bernice Asare, and many more unite to convey a potent message of peace and harmony.

On March 6, Ghana’s Independence Day, the much awaited 1957 film premiere is set to take place at the SG Mall in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region.

Celebrities have also showered Kyekyeku with praise for the ground-breaking endeavor, as Ghanaians eagerly await the newest production.
