The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has assured the public that Kotoka International Airport (KIA) is not affected by the ongoing global IT outage affecting several airports and airlines worldwide.
Airlines, banks, retail outlets, and media organizations globally are currently facing a significant IT outage, leading to grounded flights and widespread delays, particularly among major U.S. airlines.
Despite Microsoft’s assurance that the issue has been resolved, challenges persist, with blue error screens still appearing on public displays in the U.S. and beyond.
In a statement released on Friday, July 19, GACL management clarified that KIA’s IT systems are intact and all flights are operating as scheduled.
While the global glitch may cause some flight delays and interruptions from affected countries, only one of the 24 international airlines operating at KIA has had to cancel some scheduled flights. The rest of the operations at the airport are running smoothly and on time.
The GACL emphasized that Kotoka International Airport is fully operational and unaffected by the current IT disruptions, reassuring travelers and the general public of the airport’s stability amidst the global IT challenges.
