Award-winning highlife musician, Kofi Kinaata, has opened up about his decision to transition from rap music to singing.

The talented artist explained that his collaboration with the late musician Castro introduced him to a new audience, which made him reconsider his music style.

Kinaata disclosed that after working on the ‘Odo Pa’ song with Castro and Asamoah Gyan, he noticed that his singing was more widely accepted than his rap music.

This realization prompted him to focus on producing songs that catered to the corporate audience he had been exposed to.

“It’s Fante rap, and people did not really understand the language, so you have to get some melodies. My first singing also attracted more attention, people loved it, and it was moving faster than the rap music,” Kinaata shared during an interview on 3FM’s Drive.

Contrary to popular belief, Kinaata clarified that his decision to switch was not driven by a desire for money. He emphasized that his music continues to resonate with his fans and guide their lives, regardless of the genre.

Fans can anticipate the release of Kinaata’s EP titled “Kofi OO Kofi” between May 3 and May 10, marking his return to the music scene after a decade.

The EP, initially planned for release on April 15, is inspired by the artist’s life experiences, childhood stories, and life lessons.

In an exciting revelation, Kinaata teased that the EP will cover a wide range of topics, including hardship, partying, and the art of resilience.

Fans can look forward to hearing more of Kinaata’s unique storytelling and musical genius when the EP drops next month.
