Keli Gadzekpo, the Board Chair of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has submitted his resignation.
His departure, effective immediately, is reportedly due to personal reasons.
Gadzekpo was appointed to the Board in 2017 by then-Minister of Energy Boakye Agyarko and was entrusted with playing a critical role in maintaining energy sufficiency.
Gadzekpo, a seasoned entrepreneur, has contributed to the creation of several enterprises, most notably the Databank Group of enterprises, which includes Databank Asset Management Services and Databank Epack Investment Fund Limited.
With over two decades of expertise in investment banking, he presently serves as Enterprise Group’s Board Chairman.
Gadzekpo also serves as the chair of the Databank Foundation, the Databank Group’s corporate social responsibility arm.
Gadzekpo attended Achimota School and graduated from Brigham Young University with a BSc in Accounting. He is also a CPA in the United States.
He continued his study as a Mason Fellow at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, where he received a master’s degree in public administration.
According to reports, the finance expert, in his resignation letter, claimed personal reasons for his decision to stand down from his post.
However, his departure follows recent inconsistent power supply in the country, prompting repeated demands on the ECG to provide a load shedding management schedule.
