The Human Rights Division of the High Court in Accra has learned that Justice Nicholas Mensah Abodakpi, who was managing the case involving Charles Bissue and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), has retired.
The matter in which the former secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining is requesting that his fundamental human rights be upheld against the OSP has been postponed for a hearing by Justice Abodakpi.
The plaintiff, Mr. Bissue, and his legal representatives were required to submit written remarks in accordance with the direction, and the other parties were expected to follow suit.
In court were Mr. Bissue, his attorneys, and OSP prosecutors. But the parties were told that the sitting judge had retired when the case was called on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
He is the subject of an OSP investigation for alleged corruption and offenses connected to illicit mining. The Tiger Eye P.I. and Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ investigative documentary served as the inspiration for this.
