John Hinckley Jr. is an American criminal who attempted to assassinate U.S. President Ronald Reagan in Washington, on March 30, 1981, two months after Reagan’s initial inauguration.
He applied a .22 caliber revolver, Hinckley hit Reagan slightly, a police officer called Thomas Delahanty and Secret Service agent Tim McCarthy.
After 4 decades of serving jail time, Hinkley gets freed.
He made his very first tweet 17 hours earlier on June 15 about his freedom, ” After 41 years, 2 months and 15 days, freedom at last!!!”, He posted.
That must sound like the voice of freedom for the man. He pleaded not guilty for a reason of insanity and served 41 years in the correctional facility.
A plea of insanity basically means at the time of the act the accused was not in his right state of mind. Maybe he was mad or mentally incapable of making any reasonable decisions.
With a good lawyer, a plea of insanity could get you a reduced sentence or you could walk free after committing the most heinous crimes.
