John Hartman health: What Illness Did John Hartman Have?

Hartman, according to our sources died of natural causes. He did not suffer from any terminal illness before his death.

Hartman briefly toured with the Doobies in 1987 before returning the following year when the group reformed. He contributed to the reunion albums Brotherhood and Cycles. However, Hartman left the group permanently after a 1992 alumni gathering in support of percussionist Bobby LaKind, who was near death.

After a promotional tour, Hartman quit the band to tend to his California ranch’s Arabian horses.

Hartman’s death was announced by his bandmates on social media. The post read: “John was a wild spirit, great drummer and showman … he was also a close friend for many years and an intricate part of the band personality. Rest In Peace John.”
