‘Slouching Towards Bethlehem’ author Joan Didion confirmed dead

Joan Didion has passed away at her Manhattan home on Thursday. The excellent author was known for works like Play It As It Lays and The White Album.

Her publisher, Penguin Random verified this heartbreaking news stating,”We are profoundly saddened to inform that Joan Didion died earlier this morning at her home in New York as a result of complications from Parkinson’s disease,”

Joan who died at the age of 87 was an astute observer and listener, as well as a knowledgeable and delicate communicator of realities about our present and future.

Didion’s death comes just days after that of an old friend, writer Eve Babitz, who rose to prominence in the same era with a similar concentration on Los Angeles. Her husband, John Gregory Dunne, and their daughter, Quintana Roo, predeceased her.

Didion also published a number of critically regarded novels during her lifetime including “Run, River” (1963), “Play It As It Lays” (1970), and “A Book Of Common Prayer” (1973). (1977).
