Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s Former CEO. has appointed three Nigerians to head the Btrust established with American rapper Jay Z to fund Bitcoin development in Africa.

Dorsey used his Twitter page to announce their appointment and congratulated the board members which includes a South African.

The three Nigerians are Abubakar Nur Khalil, Obi Nwosu, and Ojoma Ochai. The South African among them is Carla Kirk-Cohen.

The three Nigerians got the appointment despite the Nigerian government’s ban on cryptocurrency activities.

The Central Bank of Nigeria banned cryptocurrency in early 2021, but the country is among other countries that trade cryptocurrency.

Khalil has already taken to Twitter to thank Dorsey for the opportunity and says they are honored to be working with them.

According to Statista, a global market data tracker, Nigeria is only behind the United States and Russia as the third-ranked country with the highest volume of cryptocurrency trading over 400 million.

Dorsey formed the Bitcoin trust fund in partnership with American hip-hop star Jay Z after resigning as Twitter CEO in late November.
