Customers of some telecoms have been informed that the network has been fully restored.
According to the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunication, approximately 100% of the nation’s internet access has been restored.
This occurs one week after the country was thrown into a tumultuous state of disarray and uncertainty as a result of a disruption in the supply of data services, which was ultimately linked to cable problems beneath the surface. Businesses were forced to close.
With the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunication, Dr. Ing. Ken Ashigbe, certifying that the service providers through their alternative solution are nearly at peak capacity, several telcos have informed their customers that the network has been fully restored.
In light of this, as we previously stated, the chamber’s initial statement at this point was in line with the NCA’s repeated updates, which stated that the telcos were collaborating with their undersea cable partners and other international partners to restore connectivity and obtain capacity from all sources of connectivity. He said to Starr News, “And as we speak, both of the telcos and other data savings, and I’m pretty sure customers would attest to that.”
