The restoration of power distribution redundancy is the reason behind the recent blackouts in the Ashanti Region, according to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
In the last few days, there have been sporadic power outages over parts of the region, leaving some places in complete darkness for almost 12 hours.
Certain livelihoods and businesses are suffering as a result of this circumstance.
However, the nation is not returning to load shedding, according to the ECG’s Ashanti South Business Unit.
Large portions of the Ashanti Region, including Kumasi, the regional capital, have been suffering from sporadic power outages since Friday.
Some locals were upset by what happened over the weekend.
Concerns regarding the sporadic power outages were voiced by a few locals who spoke with JoyNews.
It is really concerning that we have been sleeping in the dark for a while. One person stated, “The ECG needs to come out and explain what’s going on because it’s affecting my business.”
However, Ing. Fredrick Kwabena Bediako, the general manager of Ashanti South ECG, asserts that the problems are internal and unrelated to GRIDCO or their power producers.
These problems are not related to generational gaps or GRIDCO. He pointed to the internal ECG problems and said, “They are being addressed appropriately.
According to the firm, steps are being taken to guarantee steady electrical supply. It will take time, though.
“Cable malfunctions do occur, however it is an unpleasant condition. All of these things can be caused by heat alone, and the joints on the majority of these cables need to be ready.
“We might revisit the path ahead and determine the most effective way to address the circumstance,” he continued.
