Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has recently revealed some surprising alternative career paths he would have pursued if he hadn’t become a professional footballer.

In an interview with 3FM, Gyan shared that he would have been interested in pursuing a career in law or music.

Gyan, who is well-known for his incredible goal-scoring abilities while playing for clubs like Sunderland and Udinese, reflected on his past collaborations in the music industry. He specifically mentioned his work with his late friend Castro in the early 2010s, highlighting his passion for music alongside his successful football career.

During the interview, Gyan was asked which career he would have chosen if he hadn’t become a footballer. He responded by saying, “A musician or a lawyer, because you never win against me when it comes to arguments. You never win. I always find a way to win.” When questioned about the possibility of going to law school, Gyan mentioned that it could be a possibility in the future.

Despite considering alternative professions, Gyan emphasized his current focus on promoting sports development, particularly through initiatives like the All Regional Games. He expressed a strong desire to see future generations benefit from increased opportunities in sports.

Gyan officially retired from professional football in June of the previous year, wrapping up an impressive career that spanned over two decades. His legacy includes being Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer with 51 goals and the country’s second most-capped player, with 109 appearances for the national team.
