The NDC’s running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has made it clear that she stands firmly behind the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, and will not diminish her role by calling herself a mere driver’s mate.
In contrast, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia referred to himself as a “driver’s mate,” which he believes hinders his ability to effectively address certain government issues. This statement was made during his presentation of his vision to the party in February.
During her public introduction in Accra on April 24, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang assured former President Mahama of her support and commitment. She promised to share in the party’s achievements as well as take responsibility for any shortcomings.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the importance of the NDC winning the upcoming election, highlighting that it is not just about bringing the party back to power but about healing the country, combating corruption, greed, and despair, and creating a Ghana where citizens have hope, prosperity, and confidence.
She emphasized the need for citizens to work together towards rebuilding a broken Ghana and restoring hope, citing the NDC’s history and achievements as proof of their capability to achieve this goal. The victory they seek is not just a political win but an invitation to everyone to contribute to the country’s restoration and progress.
