American singer and actress Darlene Wright, better known by her stage name Darlene Love, was born on July 26, 1941. She recorded as a solo artist in addition to being the Blossoms’ lead singer.
When she was young, she joined the chorus at her neighborhood church. She started recording in 1962 under the name Darlene Love under the direction of producer Phil Spector. She performed lead vocals on the Crystals-credited songs “He’s a Rebel” and “He’s Sure the Boy I Love.”
