Many have called out Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, for his hypocritical behavior regarding his love of charity and his tendency to break contracts.

A Delta State High Court in Effurun denied the singer’s request for a stay of the N2 billion lawsuit that former NFF president Amaju Pinnick had filed against him.

Following his cancellation from the “Warri Again concert,” Amaju’s company filed a lawsuit against him, requesting N2 billion in damages. Furthermore, his company demands that Davido pay N150 million in legal fees in addition to an additional N30 million for the cost of filing the lawsuit.

During the case’s hearing, Davido’s lawyer informed the judge that an appeal was still pending and that the defendants—Davido and his record label—had filed a motion for a stay of proceedings. But he filed an application to withdraw the motion, arguing that the Court of Appeal now had jurisdiction over the cases that were still pending in the lower court.

Unfortunately, the court upheld the claimant’s argument in a bench ruling, holding that the High Court will continue with the case’s proceedings until an order from the Court of Appeals is obtained directing further proceedings.

Many on the internet questioned how a philanthropist could be in debt, which has caused division in response to the news.

One Just of King wrote, “But how do people make the world better? You dey owe dey do charity. Shey na new way of tithing?

“Davido cannot win this case, Sha,” wrote one Seanizzy. He is only taking action because of Naija; if it had been in another nation, he would not have had a chance.

A Queen Cassy wrote on Official Queen: “He do not jam him match.” Audiophilanthropist, Mr. I pray no one attacks me for this remark.

Shela Xoxo wrote, “Davido, give that man his money and stop using this 300 million audio website.” You want to bully a man who is older than you, but you know that you cannot do this to any of your foreign clients because Amaju is a Nigerian. You pay him his money; you bridge the contract. Your own too much

“Why does this guy too like gbese?” was written by a Nature Gazer.

Remember how the former president of the NFF publicly criticized Davido for not living up to his contract last year? He was upset that Davido did not show up for his event, even though he paid him a hefty sum and reserved a private jet for his entourage.

Then, claiming that Burna Boy was far superior to Davido, he made a comparison between the two. Davido, betraying him, boasted about headlining without anyone stopping him and warned him not to throw a stone at a glass house.

Taking a jab at him, he said that since NFF was in need, he would give them money. Isreal DMW, his personal logistics manager, had even stood up for them, telling Amaju Pinnick to tell the truth to the world.

In an unexpected turn of events, the singer later gave in to pressure while apologizing and giving an explanation for his absence to his Warri fans.

Following this, Amaju Pinnick sued Davido, requesting damages totaling N2.3 billion.

To make matters worse, he was requesting an injunction that would stop Davido from appearing at any events or shows in Nigeria until he returned the money he had been given.
