Yaw Kennah, a destitute Ghanaian guy, approached a fellow Ghanaian brother on the streets of New York and begged for money so he could purchase food, setting off a tragic chain of events.
The man, destitute for years and without work, told his fellow countryman about his terrifying experience.
As far as he can recall, he came to the US for a conference almost sixteen years ago. But he never went back home, choosing instead to work for a Virginian car wash company.
He wished that earlier administrations had passed an immigration law that would have made it possible for him to have the documentation he needed to remain in the nation lawfully.
Sadly, his plans fell through, and he was left homeless, occasionally sleeping in train stations, shelters, and cars.
The man’s hopes were dashed despite his best attempts to earn a living, leaving him penniless and in urgent need of help.
“Please, I’m having trouble. Could I perhaps have some money so I may purchase food?” Yaw asked his brother.
Yaw’s father, Koforidua, Korantumi, is from the Eastern Region, while his mother, Sehwi Bekwai, is from the Western Region.
