On Thursday, the Bole District Magistrate Court sent a herdsman who had injured a farmer in Seripe with a cutlass into police detention.
The victim’s property in the Savannah region produced cassava and yams, but it was devastated by the herdsman’s cattle.
This led to an altercation between the two men during which the herdsman is said to have given the farmer cutlass wounds.
According to Kwabena Jeremiah, the victim’s nephew, he received a distress call from another farmer informing him of his uncle’s attack.
Hurrying to the farm, he discovered his injured uncle was unconscious and proceeded to take him to the Bole district hospital for medical care.
The victim’s arrest resulted from his description of his attacker to the authorities after he regained consciousness.
Since then, Jeremiah has pleaded with the authorities and the leaders of the area to step in and resolve the continuing hostilities between the Fulani herders and the local farmers.
On Tuesday, February 13, the suspect is expected to reappear before the court, which is chaired by His Worship Edward Essel.
