The government has initiated the rehabilitation of major roads within communities in the Ejisu Municipality, with a commitment to completing the projects.
Roads and Highways Minister, Francis Asenso Boakye, alongside officials from the Ministry, inspected the ongoing projects on Thursday, April 18.
Addressing concerns that the projects were being carried out due to the upcoming by election in the area, Minister Asenso Boakye emphasized that the contracts for these projects were awarded in the past three months, while the late Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Ampontuah Kumah, was still alive.
He clarified that the constructions are not being solely executed for the forthcoming by-election in the Constituency, stating, “None of these projects was awarded in the last three months.
These are not by-election projects, the past three years some of the projects have been going on. The MP who passed on was instrumental in making sure that these projects are designed and constructed. Rest assured; these are not by-election projects; these are normal projects the ministry is implementing.”
The Ministry revealed that approximately 32 road infrastructure projects are underway within the Ejisu Constituency, being carried out by the Urban, Feeder, and Highway Departments. Contractors are currently working on projects in various communities such as Achiakrom, Abankro, Donyina, Onwe and Adako Jachie.
Minister Asenso Boakye expressed satisfaction with the progress of the projects and commended the contractors for their dedication to completing the work as per schedule. He also praised the quality of work being done by the contractors involved in the projects, emphasizing that they are among the best in the industry.
