The Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nrumah, has revealed that the government of Ghana is seeking a private investor to complete the Saglemi Affordable Housing Project.
This decision comes as part of efforts to ensure the completion and utilization of the 1506 housing units at Saglemi.
In a statement, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah emphasized the importance of partnering with the private sector to fulfill this project for the benefit of the people of Ghana. He expressed the government’s commitment to addressing the housing deficit in the country and acknowledged the need to tackle the issue of uncompleted or abandoned mass housing projects.
During a press conference, the Minister highlighted the significance of completing projects like Saglemi to prevent similar situations in the future. With a housing deficit of 1.8 million, the government aims to bridge the gap by delivering approximately 40,000 housing units annually. However, the persistence of incomplete projects could hinder future developments and worsen the housing crisis.
By collaborating with a private investor for the Saglemi Affordable Housing Project, the government hopes to reverse the trend of unfinished projects and make progress towards addressing the housing needs of the Ghanaian population. This initiative marks a step towards providing affordable housing solutions and improving access to quality homes for citizens across the country.
