The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has launched a massive COVID-19 vaccination campaign across the country to combat the surge in infections.
The campaign, slated to take place from May 4 to May 10, 2024, is particularly urgent in the Greater Accra region, which has recorded the highest number of cases.
The Ghana Health Service is urging strict adherence to safety protocols in light of the virus’s rapid spread. Dr. Franklin Asiedu-Bekoe, Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service, stressed the importance of widespread vaccination during a media briefing.
“We are witnessing an increase in cases in parts of Accra and other regions. This highlights the critical need for vaccination among Ghanaians.
Therefore, from May 4 to May 10, we will conduct a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign and urge all Ghanaians to participate,” said Dr. Asiedu-Bekoe.
The aim of the vaccination campaign is to achieve population immunity and reduce the risk of infection within the country. The Ghana Health Service plans to conduct several vaccination drives before the end of the year to reach this goal.
It is crucial for all Ghanaians to participate in the vaccination campaign to help curb the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health of the population.
The Ghana Health Service emphasizes that getting vaccinated is a key step in controlling the virus and preventing further outbreaks.
As the nation continues to battle the impact of COVID-19, it is essential for everyone to stay informed, follow safety guidelines, and take proactive steps to protect themselves and their communities.
By working together and prioritizing vaccination, Ghana can overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic and emerge stronger and more resilient.
