Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia welcomed Robert Beugré Mambé, the Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, to the Jubilee House in preparation for the inauguration of the Headquarters of the Côte d’Ivoire-Ghana Cocoa Initiative.
The two leaders engaged in productive discussions about their collaboration in cocoa production for the benefit of both countries.
The Côte d’Ivoire-Ghana Cocoa Initiative aims to uphold the Abidjan Declaration of 26 March 2018, where the Presidents of both nations committed to establishing a shared sustainable cocoa strategy. This strategy is designed to elevate the incomes of farmers in both countries in a sustainable manner.
The official inauguration of the Initiative’s headquarters, which will house the Secretariat, is scheduled for Thursday, April 18, 2024, in Accra. President Nana Akufo-Addo and Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara will jointly officiate the ceremony.
Vice President Bawumia made this announcement on his official Facebook page on April 17th, underscoring the importance of this collaboration in the cocoa industry.
As Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire solidify their partnership in cocoa production, the world watches with anticipation to see the positive impact this initiative will have on the livelihoods of cocoa farmers in both countries.
The future looks promising for the cocoa industry in West Africa as these two nations join forces for sustainable growth and prosperity.
