William T. Cooley is the commander of the Air Force Materiel Command’s specific assistant for digital transformation and a major regular throughout the United States Air Force.
He formerly served as the head of the Air Force Research Laboratory. Formerly, he was the commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory where he was responsible for managing a $2.5 billion Air Force science and technology program and an additional $2.3 billion in externally funded research and development.
William Cooley was charged with abusive sexual contact in an encounter with a woman who gave him a ride after a backyard barbecue in New Mexico in 2018. The victim is said to be a civilian and not an employee at the Department of Defence.
After being found guilty of his conduct, Cooley is to be sentenced on Monday morning and could face as much as seven years in jail. He will likely lose his rank as well, pay, and other benefits.
