The Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, has expressed confidence in the free SHS policy, stating that it will thrive under an NDC government led by John Dramani Mahama.

He mentioned that Mahama is already engaging with the heads of various senior high schools to address challenges facing the implementation of the policy.

During a meeting with the heads of secondary schools, Mahama promised to work with them to resolve their concerns and convene a national stakeholders forum to review and improve the Free SHS Programme. Apaak urged Ghanaians to ignore the NPP’s claims that Mahama intends to collapse the Free SHS policy.

Apaak highlighted the need for transparency, pointing out that the current government had informed the IMF that the Free SHS Programme would be reviewed and rationalized. He emphasized the importance of Mahama’s efforts to address challenges in the education sector, such as decentralizing feeding arrangements and ending the double-track system.

Apaak called on Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to acknowledge the necessity of reviewing the Free SHS Programme, as revealed in government reports. He dismissed the notion that Mahama would cancel the policy, emphasizing that it would thrive and improve under his leadership.
