The family of renowned Highlife musician Kwabena Kwakye Kabobo, also known as K.K Kabobo, will be hosting a special observance service to honor the late singer. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Tesano Police Depot Social Centre in Accra.

The passing of K.K Kabobo was a month ago, as he lost his battle with a liver disease. On Thursday, March 14, 2024, the veteran musician was rushed to the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC) but unfortunately, he passed away upon arrival.

Prior to his death, K.K Kabobo had been struggling with his health for months, and his family was facing challenges covering the costs of his medical treatment. Generous donations from notable individuals like former President John Mahama, Samira Bawumia, Wendy Shay, and the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) were made to support his medical expenses.

K.K Kabobo, born Kwabena Kwakye Kabobo, started his musical journey after initially working as a pupil teacher. In 1978, he founded his first band, Explosive Jets, and in 1981 released his debut album with the hit song “Nyatse Nyatse (Girl).” His song “Onyame Ehuwo” was named the song of the year in 1992 and became the best-selling record in Ghana that same year.

In 2012, K.K Kabobo was ordained as a pastor by the Covenant Mission Bible College, showcasing his versatility and commitment to music and spirituality.
