Why Reggie Bush was banned from USC?

Reggie Bush is no longer in exile from the University of Southern California (USC) as the school has officially ended its disassociation with the former running back.

This decision comes a decade after Bush was banned from the NCAA due to allegations of receiving forbidden kickbacks from marketing agents while playing college football.

Bush, who played for USC and won the Heisman Trophy in 2005, decided to forgo his senior year to enter the NFL Draft in 2006.

Throughout his 11-year NFL career, Bush played for teams such as the New Orleans Saints, Miami Dolphins, and Detroit Lions before retiring in 2017.

The NCAA’s ban on Bush included forfeiting his Heisman Trophy and a 10-year disassociation from USC. However, recent changes in NCAA regulations have allowed college athletes to profit from their name, image, and likeness.

In June 2021, the NCAA reinstated Bush’s Heisman Trophy, recognizing his collegiate accomplishments and welcoming him back to the Heisman family.

Bush expressed his excitement at returning to USC, stating that he had dreamed of this day for over a decade.

It’s a homecoming for Reggie Bush as he is officially welcomed back to USC and the Heisman Trophy family after years of exile due to NCAA sanctions.
